BNI Education David Rowlands

If you look back in your life you will come to realise at some point someone awesome has helped you get somewhere in life. Whether be a friend, parent, colleague, coach, teacher or a total stranger – support is essential to wellbeing.

BNI’s Mission is about helping.

BNI helps its members grow their business. It does this through a structured, positive, and professional an environment that enables its members to develop long-term, meaningful relationships with quality business professionals.

Here are 4 simple tips to help make a difference.

1. Notice and appreciate

Simple techniques matter – like being pleased for someone else’s success, giving them the credit, bringing out a cake, singing happy birthday, sharing the good news! Thanking them for business they found you. In short – People like to be liked and appreciated.

2. Connect and be active together

What do you know about your fellow BNI colleagues – their lives, passions and perspectives? Spend a little bit of 1-2-1 time in meetings, mixing and talking in pairs or small groups about things that matter. each other, what we do, what we like, how we can help. Connect and form meaningful relationships.

3. Keep learning

We start at a zero skill level for everything in life. Just because you can’t currently play the piano doesn’t mean that you’ll never be able to. It never hurts to keep on learning, you’ll get more brain power and you’ll see the world with fresh eyes. Learning and education are one of the major collateral benefits of being part of BNI. As each week members enlighten one another and give helpful insights into their professional services and the result is gold.

4. Give to each other

This principle is the cornerstone of BNI and is why BNI is so successful. BNI’s focus is on Giving. If I give business to you, you in return will give business to me. And research suggests that giving provides more wellbeing than receiving. So let’s give it a go and help each other out. Even giving a smile can make a difference.

In conclusion: We’re better together than alone.

BNI’s Mission is all about helping… so, what professional or friend do you know that you believe needs help, if you have someone in mind, then invite them along to a BNI Meeting?
